Janna’s movement speed allows her to outroam Renata and win the game by impacting the map, therefore it is essential for Renata players to learn roam timers against her in order to keep up. During teamfights Renata can easily stop Janna’s abilities and disrupt the whole enemy team with her Q ability and ultimate.
Thresh
Thresh’s early game strength and lategame bailout potential can exploit all of Renata’s weaknesses in all stages of the match. Being mindful about your positioning and precise with your spells is essential for victory. In the early game try to carefully poke him with your E + shield bash proc to weaken their all in potential. Later on wait for Thresh and his team to overcommit to a fight before taking over with your Ultimate.
Bard
Bard’s roaming potential makes it difficult to keep track of him, especially when he’s setting up his magical journeys or using his Tempered Fate to stun you and your team. Renata, however, can counter some of Bard’s plays with her Bailout, which can turn the tide in case your allies get caught in Bard’s engages. Timing her Hostile Takeover is crucial to stop Bard’s engage or disengage attempts, but be wary of Bard’s Cosmic Binding, which can easily set up combos for his team, so positioning and awareness are key when facing him.
Sona
Sona’s Song of Celerity provides her with mobility, making it harder to lock her down with Handshake. However, Renata can use her Bailout to protect her allies if they get caught by Sona's Ultimate, Crescendo, and prevent them from dying. Renata’s Hostile Takeover can also be a powerful tool to disrupt Sona’s positioning in team fights, especially if she’s trying to use Aria of Perseverance to heal her team. The key to this matchup is maintaining good positioning, as Sona will try to poke you from range, but Renata's abilities can turn the tide if used strategically to catch her out of position or after a bad engage.
